Migraines Q & A

Migraines are a type of recurring headache. The severity of the head pain varies but may cause severe throbbing pain or a pulsing sensation, usually on one side of the head.

Dr. Lerman has a personal history of migraines, suffering from these chronic headaches from a young age. He understands what you’re going through and is motivated to help you find a treatment that provides lasting relief.

Dr. Lerman takes a comprehensive approach to treating migraines and offers in-patient management for chronic migraines, recurrent and severe headaches that impact day-to-day life, and tension-type headaches (TTH).

His treatments aim to help you live a normal life without pain.

Migraine symptoms typically occur in four stages. However, not everyone with migraines goes through all of the stages.

Prodrome

The prodrome stage begins about 24 hours before the headache. Symptoms may include food cravings, mood changes, or uncontrollable yawning.

Aura

The aura stage causes temporary nervous system disturbances such as visual changes, weakness, or pins and needles sensation. You may experience the aura stage before or during your headache.

Headache

Migraine headaches cause a throbbing sensation in one area of your head that may last for hours or days.

Postdrome

During the postdrome stage, which follows the headache, you may feel drained and exhausted.

Dr. Lerman and the team take a personalized and comprehensive approach to the treatment of migraines. They offer many innovative therapies to help you get long-lasting relief from your chronic head pain.

IV Vitamin Therapy for Migraines

In some cases, migraines may be treated with supportive IV therapy—commonly known as a “banana bag.” This infusion contains fluids, electrolytes, magnesium, and B vitamins to help rehydrate the body, correct nutritional imbalances, and support neurological recovery. While not a cure, it can be a helpful adjunct for patients experiencing prolonged or severe migraine symptoms, especially when nausea or vomiting makes oral medication difficult.

Migraine Relief Without the ER Outpatient quick care

We offer in-office migraine abortive injections to help stop severe migraine attacks quickly—so you can avoid long ER waits and get fast, effective relief in a calm setting. Treatments may include anti-inflammatories, anti-nausea medications, and other targeted therapies based on your needs.
